Job Summary
We are seeking disciplined and safety-focused candidates to join as Train Captains for the Mumbai Monorail network. This role involves the safe, punctual, and efficient operation of monorail trains while ensuring passenger safety, service reliability, and strict adherence to operational procedures.
Train Captains will play a critical role in delivering a seamless commuter experience by maintaining operational excellence, handling emergencies, and coordinating with control centers and on-ground teams.
Key Responsibilities
Train Operations
- Operate monorail trains in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure strict adherence to signals, speed limits, and operational guidelines
- Maintain punctuality and ensure smooth train handling for passenger comfort
Safety & Emergency Handling
- Ensure passenger safety at all times
- Respond effectively to emergencies, alarms, and system failures
- Execute emergency procedures such as evacuation when required
Passenger Service
- Make clear and timely onboard announcements
- Assist passengers during disruptions or emergencies
- Maintain professional and courteous behavior at all times
Pre-Departure & Post-Trip Duties
- Conduct pre-departure inspection of train systems and safety equipment
- Report defects, abnormalities, or incidents to the Control Room
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation
Coordination & Compliance
- Maintain constant communication with the Operations Control Center (OCC)
- Follow all safety rules, traffic regulations, and operational instructions
- Participate in training programs and periodic competency assessments
Required Qualifications
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunications
- Mechanical / Automobile Engineering
- Instrumentation / Automation
- Electrical Power Systems
- Electronic & Communication (Industry Integrated)
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- 21 to 35 years (relaxation as per government norms)
Medical Standards
- 6/6 vision without glasses
- No color blindness
- Good hearing ability
- Overall physical fitness
Experience
- Freshers are eligible
- Prior experience in metro, railway, or train operations is an added advantage
Skills Required
- Strong safety awareness and discipline
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- High level of responsibility and alertness
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
Compensation & Benefits
- Diploma Holders: ₹27,383/- Monthly CTC
- Degree Holders (B.E/B.Tech): ₹28,415/- Monthly CTC
- Additional ₹3 Lakh Individual Medical Insurance Coverage
Training & Development
Selected candidates will undergo structured training covering:
- Monorail systems and operations
- Safety procedures and emergency handling
- Signaling and communication systems
Final appointment as Train Captain is subject to successful completion of training and assessments.
